Some thoughts on Life, Inspiration, and DesignThe effectiveness of ‘Naked’
Just finished the book ‘Getting Naked’ by Patrick Lencioni and it is an incredible look at how one consulting firms approach to managing their clients flies in the face of what the traditional client/consultant model looked like. The leadership implications of this book are highly visible. The book discusses different attributes that the firm uses to remain successful despite their unorthodox ways, such as:
- Don’t be afraid to lose the sale
- Don’t be afraid to make a dumb suggestion
- Don’t be afraid to ask dumb questions
- etc.
The entire book is centered around the idea that the most effective way of dealing with people, especially in the consulting world, is to be completely transparent or ‘naked’ with them. It is a great lesson to learn not only in the business realm but in the Christian realm as well.
